HOSPITAL RADIO AWARDS 2007
In December 2006, Radio Ysbyty Glan Clwyd entered the ‘Station of the Year’ category of the Hospital Radio Awards 2007, organised by the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA).
The award entry, which was produced and edited by committee member Andy Hayes, was fifteen minutes in length and contained extracts of shows broadcast over the previous year, in addition to clips of outside broadcasts, details on our 30th anniversary celebrations, and messages from patients about the service.
We were informed in January that our entry had in fact been shortlisted into the top 10 out of the whole of the
Andy Hayes and Ceri Jones attended the award ceremony, which was a part of the HBA Spring conference held in the Park Inn,
“The award ceremony itself was fantastic, in fact, it was like being at the Oscars!”, said Andy. It was hosted by former Radio 1 DJ Paul Robinson, and BBC Weather presenter Carol Kirkwood.
(Photo taken at Classic Gold Radio) “The whole experience was great”, said Ceri, “attending the awards and the conference has been brilliant, and we have learnt so much that we will take back to our station, and we’ve made so many new friends that we will hopefully stay in touch with”.
Radio Ysbyty Glan Clwyd came seventh in the ‘Station of the Year’ category, and were awarded a commended certificate in recognition of all of the hard work that goes on.
